Are you tired of the same, monotonous, aerobic workouts?
Come join the party at Dancin J's Studio!
What is Zumba®?
Zumba® is a fun, high-energy Latin inspired dance fitness class created by Colombia
native “Beto” Perez in the mid 1990’s. A Zumba® workout mixes body sculpting
movements with easy-to-follow international dance moves to create a fitness class.
Zumba® features interval training where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training
are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. During a class you will
learn basic dance moves from many different international dance styles while burning
approximately 400-600 calories per class, but it all depends on how you exert yourself.

What clothes/shoes should I wear?
We suggest you wear comfortable breathable fitness clothing that you can easily
move in. You will sweat in this class! Women: wearing a good supportive sport bra is
important to ensure comfort and proper support.
One of the most frequently asked questions is regarding the type of shoe to wear. The
answer is to get a dance-fitness or dance-aerobic shoe. A regular dance shoe will not
have the shock absorption for the impact of exercise, and an athletic shoe that is strictly
for training may not have the lightness and movement capabilities needed for dancing.
With the increased popularity in dance-fitness classes such as Zumba®, the shoe
manufacturers have come out with a great assortment of aerobic type training shoes
geared to the dance-fitness enthusiast. These shoes have multi-directional support and
very little tread on the sole. They are lightweight and make it easy to pivot and glide
across the floor.
When choosing the right shoes for your feet, read the reviews or descriptions online.
If you have a wide foot, narrow foot, or high arch, for example, there may be a brand
of shoe that is better suited for you. Ryka, Nike and Capezio brands have a popular
selection of dance aerobic shoes to choose from
What do I need to bring to a class?
WATER: Bring water to keep yourself hydrated during class.
SMALL HAND TOWEL: A small hand towel is optional to dab sweat from your face.
BRING A FRIEND: Why not share the good time; they will thank you for it once they
experience this fun class.
What if I'm not coordinated and I can't dance?
Be patient and don't get frustrated. Zumba® uses repetitive steps in every class. After a few classes you will know the basic steps. Remember, this is how Beto, the Creator of Zumba® puts it....Feel the Music! Even if you can't do a step, just keep moving. Dance like no one’s watching! Most of all just have fun!
What if I'm out of shape and I can't keep up?
Always consult a physician before beginning any type of exercise. Know your own body and limits. Work out at your own pace until you are comfortable. Day after day you will experience improvement. You won’t stop as much and your stamina will improved greatly. Hang in there, because you already took your first step toward a healthier lifestyle. Be proud of yourself!
What kind of people are in your Zumba classes?
People of all fitness levels, ages, sizes and national origin take Zumba® classes.
