Last Minute Recital Reminders. . .

The recital is quickly approaching, & I want to make sure everyone is aware of what is needed. There is a lot of information on the website (www.dancinjsstudio.com) under the "Recital" tab. There are some helpful tips for first-timers, as well as veteran students. If you have any backstage tip which you'd like to share, please let us know so we can add them to the list. ALL newsletters which have been handed out this year are located under the "Studio" tab. The drop-down will appear, & you will click on "Newsletters/Handouts". I have also mentioned make-up colors to several classes. I've been told our original eye make-up choices (Jane brand Hi-Ho Silver, & Clubbin'), have been difficult to locate. If you have not purchased your make-up yet, the alternative choice for eye make-up is Covergirl "Drama Eyes". It is a 4-pack of shadow which contains a black & a silver which are suitable. It costs about $4.84 at Target. But, I'm sure you can find it anywhere Covergirl is sold.

ALL STUDENTS MUST WEAR TIGHTS! Please be sure to check the costume pictures hanging at the studio so you will know exactly what tights & shoes you will need. I've noticed that some students still do not have the proper shoes for class. You must have your shoes for the Dress Rehearsal! NO EXCEPTIONS!

We have also discussed hair styles in class. But just to remind you...

Itsy Bitsies, Teenie Tinies, Teenie Weenies, Hip Hop Babies, Minis:

Hair in bun w/curly hair scrunchie around it.

(scrunchies can be found at Sally's, & possibly Target.)

Juniors, Teens, Seniors, Junior Elite:

Left side part w/low ponytail.

Senior Elite:

Hair curled & left down w/poof for hip hop, jazz, & tap.

Curled & in low ponytail for pointe, contemporary (also Jr. Elite for contemp.)

Everyone is expected to arrive at Dress Rehearsal (June 18) by 5:30. We will begin promptly at 6:00pm! After your final dance, you may leave. Please note: Michael Jackson Tribute dancers need to arrive no later than 5:00! Everyone should have hair & make-up done upon arrival. You may locate & report to your dressing rooms. Then, have a seat in the auditorium ready to rehearse the opening. If you have not ordered your earrings, wristbands, & belts, please do so prior to Dress Rehearsal. You can pick up your orders at the concession stand. You may watch the Dress Rehearsal from the auditorium seats in your costumes, however, please be aware of what number we are on. You will need to be backstage at least 3 numbers prior to yours! If you are not backstage in time, the rehearsal will not be stopped to wait for you. It can be a long night, & we want things to run smoothly.

Everyone will need to report directly to the dressing rooms on Recital night. Please arrive by 6:30! Doors will open at 6:00. NO ONE is permitted in the auditorium with their costumes exposed! If you have a lot of time between numbers, you are permitted to watch the show, however, wear a large shirt to cover your costume.

If you need a drink or snack, please be smart about it. Only water is to be consumed in costume! And, snacks which will not have the potential to become a disaster are accepted. I once saw a girl eating a hot dog ,with ketchup & mustard on it, in her costume.I almost had a heart attack! I've also witnessed small children in light pink costumes eating strawberries! Yikes! So, I just ask that you keep the costumes clean, & avoid foods such as the ones listed above.

ALL FEES FOR CLASSES MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY JUNE 12, 2010!

I hope that everyone is as excited for the recital as I am! I am sure you will all enjoy yourselves. Keep working hard these last several days. You will get a huge payout in the end.The roar of applause! Break a leg, everyone! And, please do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
