Fall/Winter 2009 News
Many of the classes are currently working on routines for our upcoming Christmas shows. The classes who are performing are: Sr. Elite jazz, Jr. Elite jazz, Teen jazz, Junior ballet, Mini jazz, Teenie Tinies ballet, and Teenie Weenies ballet. Costumes have been ordered and should be arriving very soon. The show dates and times are listed on the dry erase board and TV.
With winter fast approaching, it is important to know what to do in the event of inclement weather. We DO NOT follow Norwin school closings. Weekday evening classes-please consult our website, www.dancinjsstudio.com, after 2:00pm. Or, you may also call the studio line at (724)515-5064 after 2:00pm. A message will be left on the voice mail if classes are cancelled. For morning classes, please check the website and/or voice mail by 9:00am. We do our best to let everyone know well enough in advance if we need to cancel due to weather. In the event of a snow storm after classes have begun, there have been times when we have ended classes early. Please, use your best discretion when driving in bad weather. If you do not feel comfortable sending your child to class, that is up to you. We try our best to keep the studio up and running whenever we can.
With the holidays coming up, we have several days which there will be no dance classes. The studio is closed for Thanksgiving Nov. 26-29. We will also be closed for Christmas and New Years Dec. 23-Jan. 3. Classes are NOT prorated. Class fees remain the same month-to-month. Sometimes your child will end up with 5 classes in a month due to the way the days fall. We also have extra classes closer to competition and recital time. Therefore, there is no discount due to holidays. Discounts will also not be honored when a child misses a class. It is the students’ responsibility to make up classes when they are missed, if you so desire.
Please keep in mind a $10 late fee will also be applied if payment is not made prior to the 15th of every month. If you must miss your solo time, please contact the studio prior to the day you need to miss. Your instructor will make arrangements if you would like to make up your lesson. But, please be courteous and let us know at least a day in advance. There have been many times when we are waiting for a soloist to arrive, only to have them not show up without any prior notice. Please be courteous and give us a call.
Sarris Candy orders will be arriving on Dec. 10. You may pick up your orders during your regular class time. Or, if you would like to pick them up on delivery day, you may do so after 7:00pm. The studio will be open until 9:00pm. Your profits may be used towards anything dance related; class, costumes, competition fees. If you have not paid for your candy orders, you will not receive your candy until you do so.
January 3 is “Happy Jazzin’ New Year” with Jeff Shade. This event is open to ages 12 & up. It will take place at the Benedum Centre rehearsal studio from 9am-1pm. The cost is $60, which includes a t-shirt, and is due by Nov. 25. Checks made payable to Dancin J’s Studio.
Thank you all for your cooperation! I hope everyone is enjoying their dance experience this year! Each and every student is special and is good at something. Always remember, everyone is good at something, but no one is good at everything! Keep up the good work! I have seen a lot of talented individuals walk through the doors of Dancin J’s Studio! Thank you all for being so fun to work with!
